Case Study - Chocolate Audio Video Film
Chocolate Audio Video Film is a multimedia company
which provides SoftImage Nitris DS Systems, Offline/Online AVIDS,
Final Cut Pro HD / After Effects, Digital Betacam Tape Suite, Protools
HD Audio Suite, Maya 3D and Camera Studio services.
Chocolate Audio Video Film approached ACHALL to install Air Conditioning,
Heating and Ventilation to its Studio, Avid and Edit Suites.
The A/C system was designed in accordance with the following basic
client requirements:
 |
Due to the nature of works being studio
/ audio / video editing, the designed system would need to operate
at low sound design conditions with A/C system noise levels
during operation unperceivable to suite operators. |
| |
|
 |
The A/C system would need to provide
individual comfort conditions over a broad temperature range
to each suite with flexibility to allow each suite operator
to have individual control. |
| |
|
 |
A design that encompasses high reliability,
efficient operation and provides economic short and long term
running costs. |
| |
|
 |
To provide a design solution that offers
a simplified installation process while offering efficient space
utilization and aestheticly pleasing interior surface finishes. |
Bases on these basic requirements, ACHALL performed
an engineering analysis of the premises, including a site audit
to determine potential heat generation and losses to the building.
ACHALL then performed heat load calculations to verify the load
requirements of the spaces to be air conditoned and ventiliated.
Based on these calculations, design concepts were formulated and
an energy analysis was undertaken to determine the most cost effective
long term option and associated potential payback periods based
on savings over a less efficient system.
Based on Chocolate Audio Video Films requirements and
ACHALLs findings, it was decided that an inverter split ducted system
would serve the basic requirements of noise, efficiency, controllability
and space utilisation. Based on this design option, a number of
split ducted units were installed, with the floor plan being zoned
according to facade orinetation.
Additionally, a number of options for supply air grilles
were provided with CAVF deciding on circular diffusers (matching
existing interior design). Based on this basic selection, ACHALL
provided correct grille sizing and selection in order to provide
good air diffusion qualities to the occupied space.
